Tacky Princess on White Trash Mom.com
My pal, Michelle Lamar, started the White Trash Mom site back in the summer of 2005, and I joined her a short time later. At the time, Michelle needed an outlet for all of the experiences she was having as the mother of two elementary school aged daughters. If you have children of this age, you probably know what I mean when I say that the world of elementary school can be one of sharks and minnows. As a parent, you don’t want to be a minnow. ‘Cuz’ if you’re a minnow, then that means your kids are destined to be chum, and that ain’t good for nobody! Trust me!
In reality, the White Trash Mom site is far from trashy. It’s humorous, but practical, advice for moms of school aged children who are willing to ignore the new “norm” of parenting perfection and settle for “good enough”. It’s fun, snarky and a welcome relief to the pressure of the everyday motherhood we’ve all become accustomed to. Our site has gotten so successful that we have parlayed it into a book: the White Trash Mom Handbook. Check it out. You’ll be glad you did!
On this Kansas City site, I blog about just about whatever's on my mind, including current events, my kids' activities, parenting (what's new?!), and the general goings on in our lives. Because this site also has more of a local focus, I will tend to focus on local events, restaurants and happenings, as well.
Balancing Act at Disney’s Family.com
On this site, my moniker is Princess Peg, in memory of my own mother, Peggy. My mother was my hero in so many ways, and it seemed fitting to (at least partially) adopt part of her name as my online name on this site. On the Disney site, I’ve written about parenting teenagers, marriage, book clubs, being a Girl Scout leader and numerous other topics. There are over 125 posts to amuse you over there.
Van Diaries at Disney’s Family.com
Chrysler actually gave me one of their new Town & Country minivans to drive around for about a month in late 2007. It was really a hoot. Initially, my girls called it the “Table Van” for its unique feature of the table being situated between the seats in the back. Later, though, the whole family took to calling it the “Cybervan”. With its sleek silver paint job, satellite radio, and Disney/Nick/Cartoon Network TV, we were stylin’…for about a month! Then, it was back to our 2004 Toyota Siena. It was fun while it lasted, lemme’ tell ya’. And all I had to do to earn my pay was write about my experiences while driving the van. Piece o’ cake!
